in a difficult area and every time there were problems in Sudan,

shabait.com Asmara, 3 May 2010- President Isaias Afwerki
left today for Qatar and Egypt on a working
visit at the invitation of Sheikh Hamad Bin
Khalifa Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, and
President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt.
In the course of the visit, the President
would hold talks with the leaders of the two
countries on enhancing bilateral relations
and regional, as well as international
issues of mutual interest.
President Isaias was accorded warm welcome
on arrival in Doha at noon.
In the conference which was held within the
premises of the Eritrean Consulate General,
Mr. Abdallah Jabir, Head of Organizational
Affairs at the PFDJ, pointed out that the
activities conducted by youths in the Saudi
city in a year was commendable. He further
reminded the need for higher awareness and
organizational capability on the part of the
youth, and thereby fulfills the
responsibility entrusted to them.
...Negotiations are supposed to be
painful and unpleasant, because they are
supposed to address issues of conflict.
..The representative teams of each party, on
the other hand, including that of the EFDM
are vested with the power and authority to
represent their constituents in the
negotiations process and to make tentative
agreements. Therefore, Gabeel has the right
to transmit an open message to their leaders
who are there to negotiate in their names
and the name of their constituents. Those
who seem to be complaining about mentioning
the word “commandos” that represents a real
tragic story for the majority of us, should
explain their associations with this past
lethal Eritrean collaborators who destroyed
and eliminated many of our villages in the
early 60’s and 70’s. We are not afraid

.. They have the right to raise the
issue of illegal settlements, the continuous
and consecutive oppressive policies, denial
of heritage, and yes the historical
brutality of the “commandos” so as to enter
into a unity with clear vision and awareness
of the facts as they are, not as they wish
them to be. Further, why the tendency to
censorship and the implied “technique of
intimidation” among equals? When Gabeel says
its opinion, it is theirs to keep, not
others to please. As Eritreans they have
every right to come out and say it as it is.
They are either veteran freedom fighters or

Eritreans who do not get intimidated by

How the EFDM delegation needs to manage the
upcoming opposition meeting Gabeel Team, January 2005
...The above are just few simple questions
that aught to be asked by the EFDM
delegation and answered by any group that
claims to have the interest of the Eritrean
people at heart. Today there are many in the
opposition camp that are not just
indifferent to the plights of our people,
but openly call upon us not to even mention
the atrocities that have been befalling our
people from the days of the so-called
“Commandis” (1960s & 1970s) to the present
day merciless pfdj “commandis”. Aside from
the opportunist gutless individuals and
groups, we should be left in no doubt that
the opposition camp is clearly divided into
those who wish to maintain the status-quo
minus Issayas or with “reformed” Issayas and
those who genuinely favor fundamental
changes that reverses the injustices of the
last 50 years and restore the Eritrean
people’s legitimate rights to autonomous
rule and federally structured system of
governance.

1:50 AM As the Khartoum conference to find a common
ground in toppling the dictator is underway,
all respective opposition organizations are

Khartoum meeting of the Alliance. You will
see for yourself their ethnic and religious
hate and cowardice and the contamination,
disruption and political civil war they
created in the opposition.
In 2005, when the alliance was getting ready
for one of its meetings in Khartoum, a
barrage of assaults against the Eritrean
Christian highlanders in the opposition was
carried by the fascist Bashir Yishaq and his
fascist EFDM . The organization unleashed
ethnic and religious attacks against the
Kebesa, only equaled and no less than the
agitation by those genocidal cadres of the
Rwanda roaming butcher units. Bahisr Yishaq
and his fascist organization attacked the
Kebesas in the opposition accusing them of
committing atrocities against the lowlander
because, as far as these fascists were
concerned, these gallant freedom fighters
were offsprings of Andenet and Commandos
hence responsible too. They tried to justify their action by
shamelessly stating that they wanted to
divert and change the outcome of the meeting
that was going on in Khartoum. And then 5
years later comes the conference, same thing
but now there is Tedamun and the
Terrorist Unit at Awate website and then the
Covenant and the terrorist of the land of Kangaroos and then the Trojan-Horse
professor..
Then the Conference of the EDA becomes the Conference of the
Sectarian Covenant.. and Eritrea becomes
Lebanon.. ..Tsk Tsk Younus. Blebamka...
We warned the opposition. Even before

alliance and particularly our Muslim

they are it again and this time, they have
the Tedamun, the Ali Salim Terrorist Unit at

They are carrying terrorist tactics to

opposition and hijack the opposition,
convert the conference into a sectarian

At least 2,000
Lebanese marched through central Beirut
on Sunday in a show of support for
secularism in their deeply divided
country.
The "Laique Pride,"
or "Secular Pride," march was organized
by civil society groups.
Participants
headed toward parliament in downtown
Beirut but were prevented from reaching
the compound by Lebanese soldiers.
Lebanon is home to
18 religious sects and is deeply divided
along sectarian lines. The country
experienced a ruinous 15-year civil war
between Muslims and Christians that
ended 20 years ago.
Since Lebanon
gained independence in 1943, the
president has always been a Maronite
Christian, the prime minister a Sunni
Muslim and parliament speaker a Shiite
Muslim. Parliament and Cabinet seats are
equally divided between Christians and
Muslims.
"We are here today
to call for annulling the mentality that
led to a war 35 years ago," said
Marianne Ghattas, a 16-year-old high
school student, referring to the 1975-90
civil war that killed 150,000 people.
The army must not get near parliament.'
(Photo: Reuters)
"In order for us to
accept each other and live equally there
should be no sectarianism," Ghattas
said.
Sectarian rifts are
common between Sunni, Shiite and
Christian communities. Each community
makes up roughly a third of Lebanon's
population of 4 million.
Dozens of
participants danced and played music as
they sang: "No to sectarianism, we are
all Lebanese. Yes to secularism."
But it is not just the country's
politics that are sectarian.
Lebanon's personal
status laws are based on religion-based
issues like marriage and inheritance.
Lebanese can only have religious
marriages. Those who want to have a
civil marriage must do so abroad.
"Civil marriage,
not civil war," read a banner carried by
Ghattas and several others.

"The goal is to create a face for a secular
Lebanon," said organizer Kinda Hassan. "We are
demanding that religion and politics stay separate
and politics stay separate from an individual's
religion."
