Both peoples have enough problems and challenges of their own. The Eritrean ports belong to the Eritrean people, not Isaias Afewerki. Ethiopia is welcome to use the ports, provided they adhere to international rules. This has always been the case, but Ethiopia throughout the years chose to use Djibouti and Somalia’s ports instead.
Ethiopia is not the only country in the world without its own ports. However, unlike Ethiopia, other nations collaborate with port-owning countries to gain access, without resorting to intimidation tactics or warmongering.
