Asmara, 07 March 2026 – Three months of vocational training has been provided to 207 students and staff members of Mai-Nefhi College of Science, including 116 female students.
The training covered sign language, basic Arabic, photo editing, satellite dish installation, scriptwriting and film directing, as well as graphics.
Commending the efforts of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students branch of Sawa and Higher Education Institutions in enhancing the vocational capacity of students alongside their regular college education, Prof. Gebray Asgedom, Dean of the College, called for the sustainability of the program.
Mr. Romodan Mohammednur, representative of the union branch, called on the trainees to apply the skills they acquired during the training in practical settings.
Noting that enhancing the vocational capacity of the youth is among the priority objectives of the union, Ms. Mensura Ismail, head of the National Union of Eritrean Youth and Students branch of Sawa and Higher Education Institutions, called on the trainees to make use of the knowledge they gained from the training to improve their livelihoods.
According to reports, over the past four years the union branch of Sawa and Higher Education Institutions has provided vocational training to 1,410 college students.
