Khartoum
and Asmara….opening of hearts before opening of borders
(SudanSafary)
"....Now the visit of the First Vice-President to Asmara comes in the
context of responding to the initiative and to lay down established basses
for relations of the two countries, so that they can take their right
political dimension, not to be in the state of previous fluctuation in a
circular mode. Relations between the two countries will be resumed, no
doubt, impressively and meaningfully, to link peoples of the two countries
in the future; because if the Eritrean leadership used to be dealing in
such a strategic view with its neighbor Sudan for years, there would have
not been any need to this fluctuations in relations
"..
the Sudanese-Eritrean relations should head towards integration and, as
such, it means (a fresh thinking) that deserves to be appreciated. If
intentions are tactful, Sudan and Eritrea will go towards strategic
integration, as the Eritrean leadership called for. ...

ANALYSIS-
Bias charge weakens Horn of Africa peace bid 01 Dec 2005 10:24:00
GMT
Source: Reuters By William Maclean
NAIROBI, Dec 1 (Reuters) - Major powers
trying to prevent a war in the Horn of Africa have only made matters
worse by appearing to take sides with Western ally Ethiopia against
tiny Red Sea state Eritrea, analysts say.
Continued failure to present an even-handed approach may set the
stage for a replay of their 1998-2000 border conflict, in which
70,000 troops were mown down in World War One trench warfare in a
landscape of thorny plains and dusty villages. |

Year
2006 Wish
Government and Opposition to start Dialogue?
|
meskerem 11-23-05
EDA denies
report; other opposition organizations yet to comment. |
Hussein Kalifa, the EDA chairman who is reported to be in
Mekele, Ethiopia on EDA mission, denied the report that his
organization was approached by Sudanese officials to open dialogue
with the Eritrean government.
Menghisteab Asmerom,
Head of EDA Information Department asked by meskerem to comment on
the report, stated,
"Nothing to that effect has happened with our organization and we do not
know either whether other organisations were approached or not. We are
just reading it like you and others on the web site."
Observers:
More Likely..EDA last meeting reiterated dialogue with the regime, the
regime takes the Sudan peace initiative and sends
Abdalla Jabir
to Sudan.
Many observers believe that there is high probability that the
opposition, through Sudanese officials or Eritrean elders in
Sudan, would offer Jabir dialogue on the basis of the EDA
political decision. It seems that the power centers of EDA now fell
confident and in full control to take the EDA along the dialogue path.
The Report:
GIC which, nowadays, seems to be getting
"leaks" from insider sources in Eritrea, had reported that the
Eritrean regime had
finally accepted to "hold negotiations with some particular Eritrean
opposition organizations' through the initiative taken by the
Chairman of a prominent Sudanese opposing party. The report added that
the Eritrean opposition parties have rejected the
initiative sighting that the “conduct of talks” with the
government in an individual basis would contradict with the principle of
the opposition that expects to deal with the regime as a group not as
individual organizations.
Related Report:

2005:
Eritrean Opposition Alliance (EOA) has
called for formation of transitional government to included the
