Keren, 01 March 2026- The Ministry of Education branch in Anseba region organized a meeting focusing on strengthening cultural, sports and health activities on 27 February in Keren. At the meeting review of the activities implemented in 2025 as well as discussion on future program was conducted.
Noting that cultural, sports and health activities have significant contribution in enhancing physical and psychological fitness of students, Mr. Kiflai Andemicael, head of education office in the region, called for preserving the already registered achievements and address the challenges encountered.
At the meeting various recommendations were adopted including for conducting regular cultural and sports activities alongside the regular education, conducting regular follow-up on the health of students, for providing due attention for all types of sports and sports infrastructure.
Ms. Najat Alamin, head of culture, sports and health at the education office, said that the meeting will have significant contribution in exchanging experiences between the sub-zones as well as in introducing changes compatible with the current situation.
Noting that without the participation of stakeholders effective cultural, sports and health activities could not be realized, Col. Tesfatsion Girmay, Director General of Social Services in the region, and Mr. Siraj Haj, Director General of Culture, Sports and Health in the region, called for the eradication of underage marriages so that to enable females in the cultural and sports activities.
