Asmara, 27 January 2026 – The funeral service of veteran freedom fighter Musa Husein Naib was held today at 10:00 a.m. at the Asmara Martyrs Cemetery in the presence of President Isaias Afwerki, Ministers, senior Government and PFDJ officials, Army commanders, family members, and a number of nationals.
Veteran freedom fighter Musa Husein Naib joined the Eritrean People’s Liberation Forces in July 1975 and served his country and people with utmost dedication in various capacities.
After Independence, veteran freedom fighter Musa Husein Naib continued to serve his country and people as Administrator of the port city of Massawa, Administrator of Keren, Executive Member of the Eritrean Constitution Commission, Eritrea’s Attorney General, and, from 2003 onwards, as Director General of General Education at the Ministry of Education.
Mr. Yemane Gebreab laid a wreath on the tomb of veteran fighter Musa Husein Naib on behalf of the PFDJ; Ms. Halima Mohammed, Minister of Education, on behalf of the Ministry of Education; Mr. Mehari Belai on behalf of the EPLF Security; and his son, Idris Musa.
Veteran freedom fighter Musa Husein Naib is survived by his wife and five children.
Expressing deep sorrow over the passing of veteran freedom fighter Musa Husein Naib, the Ministry of Education conveyed condolences to family members and friends.
