Eritrean Islamic Conference:  The issue of self-determination is not the prerogative of the forum and raises questions about the future of the Eritrean entity

Eritrean Islamic Conference said that the issue of self-determination contained in the Final Declaration of the Eritrean National Conference for Democratic Change (NCDC) held in Ethiopia Capital, Addis Ababa on July 31 to Aug 09, 2010 is outside the jurisdiction of Congress, noting that the insistence of some components of the political forces to compel the adoption of the specific issues raises questions about the future of the Eritrean land and people.


The Eritrean Islamic Congress Party (EIC) lead by sheikh Hasan Salman, said in a statement issued by its Information Office  last Tuesday,  the Islamic congress Party reservations is  on the paragraph self-determination contained in the Final Declaration of the (NCDC) , and considered it as outside the scope of the powers and functions such meetings , noting that this right for elected legislative and delegated by the people.

 

The statement said that the paragraph of self-determination which gives the ethnic self-determination up to secession, have not been consensus at the meetings of the (NCDC), noting that its inclusion in the decision violates a list of (NCDC) Interior bylaws, which stipulates the need for consensus on crucial issues which has never happened in the case mentioned. The statement added that the insistence of some components on the lifting of some specific issues to the level of the crucial issues and compel the political forces to adopt issues, does not mean only to raise more doubts and uncertainties, many of the questions, or questions about the future of the Eritrean territory and people, and pay a crane new to deepen division and fragmentation among the opposition.

The statement said that (NCDC) had earned on the successes of reasonable and ability but,  it returned to say (The failure of the administrative, technical and tactical errors that have accompanied the process of preparation, as well as the lack of clarity on the basic idea of the (NCDC), and the expected outcome, deducted a lot of weight and landed value).

The statement said the Islamic Congress has pushed many of the observations and impairment provisions and reservations of the organizations of the coalition sponsoring the forum, about the number of errors is essential and fundamental that accompanied the preparation phase and to prepare and support the dialogues interface extensively with the various political forces and civil - pro and conservative - to create the atmosphere of the (NCDC), and save with its requirements.

The Congress called on all Islamic opposition forces and the various sectors of the Eritrean people to line up on the invitation of the national dialogue that came out of the (NCDC). It expressed the hopes that the new Commission be able to create the appropriate climate for the convening of the Conference of the dialogue reflect the spirit of all outputs, and are pushing for the future milestones clearer and more solidarity.
