Asmara, 01 January 2026 – At an activity assessment meeting conducted by the Central Region on 30 and 31 December, it was reported that 87% of the set-out programs for 2025 have been implemented.
According to reports presented at the meeting, the implemented programs include water and soil conservation; enhancement of agricultural development and productivity; construction and maintenance of dirt and asphalt roads; establishment and maintenance of potable water projects; preservation of ancient heritage and historical sites; follow-up on project implementation and capacity; as well as the establishment of an effective information system.
Furthermore, the reports noted that encouraging activities have been carried out to address shortages observed in the education sector, with progress registered; training programs aimed at enhancing the capacity of youth; provision of potable water supply for both humans and livestock; as well as efforts toward the eradication of harmful practices.
The participants, after conducting extensive discussions on the reports presented, adopted various recommendations, including finalizing unfinished projects; addressing public transportation problems; organizing training programs for Government workers aimed at upgrading capacity; intensifying efforts toward the eradication of harmful practices; as well as conducting sustainable public awareness programs.
Mr. Zerit Tewoldebrham, Managing Director of the Region, on his part, indicating the strengths and challenges in the implementation of the 2025 programs, explained the charted-out programs for 2026.
