Washington DC 04-24-05:
War is not imminent. it is just
propaganda , says Mr. Adhanom Gebremariam, Vice
Secretary General of Eritrea Democratic Alliance.
Elements for war between Eritrea and Ethiopia are not present, both
nations don't have the capacity(?) to conduct a war hence
war is not imminent says Mr. Adhanom
Gebremariam, Vice Secretary General of Eritrea Democratic
Alliance..
In a public meeting called by Dr. Yohannes Zeremariam,
Head of Foreign Office of ELF in Washington, DC. on
04/22/2005, , Mr. Adhanom said that, from his military
experience, the elements of war are not present and
that war is not imminent. As a member of the audience,
he volunteered this comment and said that the Ethiopian
authorities have assured them (EDA) that they don't intend
to start another round of war. He added that there does not
seem to be a desire to start another war by the dictatorial
regime in Eritrea either. He supported his argument by
saying that Ethiopia and Eritrea don't have the
capacity to start a war. Mr. Adhanom did not say that
Eritrea will be the one to start the war contrary to many in
the opposition who have incriminated the Eritrean
government even before a bullet has been fired. |

Gebremariam, vice-General Secretary of EDA attended the meeting.

existence since early 70s. Before the start of the meeting, video
show of ELF meetings in Sudan was presented.
Our transition to democracy.
Dr. Yohannes started the meeting by describing the theme of the meeting:
our transition to democracy. He asked the audience why it is taking us
this long to remove the dictatorship and set up a democratic government?
There is definitely something wrong. Is it because we have not
clearly defined our goals or is it because we have not been able
to achieve what we set as goals?....full
