meskerem 09-09-2005:
EDA executive council meeting ended yesterday 09--8-05. The leadeship
council to meet on the 15th of this month.
Information provided by the Head of the Information Office
of EDA stated that the council ended its meeting last night. The council
dicussed six months' performance reports of the EDA offices and
fully agreed on the reports. It stated that most were positvie.
The executive council has prepared a report with
suggestions to the coming meeting of the leadership council. The
leadership meeting is expected to start on Sept 15, 2005,
in Khartoum. |

EDA Meeting update:
ECMS reports that
the executive council of the EDA started its meeting today. It
indicated that all members of the executive council, including the
Vice-Chairman, were present. |

    |
meskerem via Khartoum: 09-04-05:
No foreign government representative to attend either the EDA executive
or central committee meetings . (The meeting of the executive body
is expected to start in the next two days.)
EDA official sources have informed meskerem that no foreign government
representative is expected to attend either the executive or the central
council meetings. It is to be remembered that the EPM
faction led by Abdalla Adam had invited representatives of
Ethiopia and Sudan in its last leadership meeting to the dismay of even
its members.
The involvement of these neighbors in the affairs of the opposition seems
to have intensified/increased since the creation of the EDA. For the
first time in the history of Eritrean opposition, the EDA
invited these nations' representatives to their official
meetings. They are now inviting them to Eritrean public
meetings gradually alienating their "constituencies" who are not
comfortable with such presence.
Such daring and direct political interference in the affairs
of the Eritrean opposition by our neighbors raises the fear that
the Eritrean opposition might be loosing control and depending too
much on foreign support thereby diminishing its credibility and
independence. This is at a time when the opposition is in
perpetual internal turmoil, at its lowest level of public support and
when even those who have been giving benefit of doubt are expressing
impatience . |
