meskerem 05-27-05: Carter Center Statement not well received by many in the Eritrean Opposition.
Carter Center affirmation of Ethiopia's intention of regime change in Eritrea in the event that war breaks between Ethiopia and Eritrea  has not been received well in the Eritrean  opposition camp. It will hurt the cause of the opposition, it is feared. The overwhelming majority in the opposition camp are now expressing solidarity with the Eritrean people and the Eritrean Defense Forces should Eritrea and Ethiopia go to war. The Carter Center's biased statement, especially  when Eritreans all over the world are celebrating their hard earned independence , can not be acceptable. 
Such statement can only give credence to  the regime's accusation of international complicity in the unfair  arm-twisting of Eritrea as shared by the  Eritrean President in his Liberation Day speech.
